Recently I was reading chapter 11 of the book of Proverbs from the Bible. I was amazed to discover that God has designed tools by which He guides us in our lives. Sometimes we don't realize that God is guiding us, but I hope that by reading this article you will see for yourself how God has or wants to guide you.
Pr 11:3 The integrity of the upright will guide them. Integrity is my guide! Doing the right thing is my guide! Integrity has to do with honesty. My outer life is guided by my inner life. Integrity also has to do with what I want.If I am making a deciosin, big or small, God uses our integrity to guide us.
Pr 11:5 The righteousness of the blameless will direct his way aright. I'm led by righteousness; I'm led by "doing the right thing."
Pr 11:6 The righteousness of the upright will deliver him.
Pr 11:9 But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered. What knowledge do I need? What knowledge do I lack?
Pr. 11:14 In the multitude of counselors there is safety. We should and need to seek the advice from others, especially other more mature, godly spiritual leaders. I should get input from my home group about my decision to go to South Korea.
Pr 11:16 A gracious woman retains honor, but ruthless men retain riches. God has given me wonderful examples of what it means to be a gracious woman. My mom, my home gruop leader, some of my friends (Cate, Hanna, Nackwon,) are some of the most gracious woman I know!!God wants me to be a gracious woman!! He's calling me into being/becoming more and more a gracious one. A gracious woman is one who is kind and friendly, speaking gracious words. She speaks words that help others. Words that build up others. She's not rude, nor violent. She's gentle and seeks good of others. Points others in the right direction. She's gracious. FULL OF GRACE! For herself and for others. This is God's will for me!!! To be a gracious woman.
Pr 11:17 The merciful man does good for his own soul. God's will is also that we do good for our own soul. We have to find out what that is and then do it. Living our lives for God's purpose is absolutely GOOD FOR OUR OWN SOULS. Examples: We have to forgive ourselves. We should live "otherly". Make decisions based on , "Is this good for my soul?" We do well to live for God's purpose. Do we know what that is? (I would propose that God is making worshippers of Jesus from all tribes and nations His primary goal.)God wants us to do good for our own soul!!
Pr 11:27 He who earnestly seeks goood finds favor. I should earnestly seek good. That is a pro-active stance. Not waiting for good to happen but instead making good happen. For example, on of my friends from England, Jo, used to MAKE GOOD HAPPEN!! She would always go around, meeting people and doing things. In my life I got to meet alot ofpeople because of her She made good happen by gathering people together to be together, to have fun, to be in relationship. I would LOVE to emulate her (for the good of others, for the good of my own soul, Lord-willing!!)+
I trust that God is enabling me and helping me live a life where He guides and directs my path is some of the ways discussed here; through integrity, through righteousness, through doing good for my own soul, through graciousness and through the advice and input of others!! May your heart too be open to God's leading in your life. Bless the Lord o my soul and all that is within me bless the Lord!

Anxiety and Depression
Did you know that the Bible talks about anxiety and depression? I did not know this and was surprised recently when I read it in my Bible.
"Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad." Proverbs 12: 25
My hope today is that this article will be seen as "a good word" and be helpful for you or someone you know suffering from depression.
Jenni's Story of Hope~
I have suffered from anxiety and depression, but mainly depression, my entire life since I was a teenager. Now I'm in my early 40s. Off and on I struggled. Eventually it would go away, so I'd b relieved and glad. I thought I was "healed." But, the very nature of depression is that it comes and goes. That's part of its nature. So, one day while I was living overseas, all the pressures of life, and all the sudden changes I was experiencing, caused me to enter into one of the darkest seasons of y life. Despair. I plunged into a vacuum of darkness. a Hopelessness. I wanted to end my life. But I knew I had a problem, so after 3 days of continuous sleeping, without eating, and having turned off my phone, I turned for help. I went in to see my doctor. That was the best decision I ever made. I believe God led me to that decision.
My doctor listened to me describe my symptoms and feelings. He referred me to a specialized doctor who could help me more.
I met with a pastor for counsel and my friends were great!! They gave me counsel from the Word of God. They spent time with me to make sure I wasn't alone. The psychiatrist gave me anti-depressants and anxiety medicine. And I tried to do things that would contribute to a healthy lifestyle such as exercise, socializing and finding hobbies. It was a dark time indeed, but I grew. I learned that with any problem, there's always light at the end of the tunnel. It won't always be dark! I also learned that people loved me and cared about me. I learned to be vulnerable with other people. I learned to open up and share my problems with them.
I learned that God is bigger than our darkness, depression, and problems. I learned that there are "triggers" to watch out for! These "riggers" come in the form of stress or problems to me, and, if I don't deal properly with them can lead me down a dark road ahead again. The good news is that now I've learned to be aware of the triggers and get help sooner if I need to!
A lot of people helped me, and prayed for me during that time. Now its' time for me to give back and help others!
You're Not Alone
If you or someone you know is suffering from anxiety and/or depression, it's important to realize that you're not alone! God reassures us of this from His Word. In Matthew28 Jesus tells his disciples, "I am with you always..." You are not alone. Jesus is with you. Also, lot of other people have suffered from depression too. You're not the only one. You can get help. You can get treatment. There are lots of support groups around for people who suffer from anxiety/depression. At the end of this article I will list some of those websites.
Also, if you have not told anyone yet, I cannot urge you enough to do so! There are friends and family in you life, that, if they knew you were suffering, would want to help you!!! But yo have to take the 1st step by being vulnerable and letting them in. Finally, a lot of people have gone through this, myself included. So, know that you're not alone. Lots of people have experienced depression, and are willing to help you.
Getting the Help You Need
The following are practical suggestions so that yu don't have to suffer alone with depression. Get the help you need. There's no shame in doing so. One of my friends from S. Africa (Jen) told me this: If a person has an illness, they go see a doctor. If its a broken arm, or a broken leg, they see a doctor, and he can fixit. So, too with depression, its the same thing. It's an illness and you can see a doctor for treatment! Don't let there be a stigma preventing you from getting help.
So, here are some things I recommend:
1. Talk with a trusted pastor or home group leader. They'll often be supportive , and NOT AT ALL SURPRISED by your revelation, or secret. They're trained and accustomed to helping people. In my case I met with a pastor for lunch. He was able to listen to me and help me sort out how I was doing.
2. Seek medical/professional help. See a doctor. Doctors know what symptoms to look for. They are trained professionals and know how to help. In my case, once I saw my psychiatrist he was so kind to me! He told me he'd continue to see me as long as I was living in a foreign land, until I got back to y home land. He spoke these words of HOPE into me!!! He also said my case was only mild, and "not that serious." In my mind I thought I was pretty messed up, but, he's seen lots of patients. He know the normal spectrum scale better that I did! He explained to me that one reason he felt my case was "mild-not serious" is because I was able to talk about it. I could articulate and explain what I was going through. Some patients weren't able to do that. He also counseled me on lifestyle practices. He encouraged me to exercise, socialize and have hobbies. When we met he was an excellent listener.
3. Tell your story tell your struggles, to others. This breaks the power of shame and depression. This brings your problem into the light where it can be dealt with. As I began to share y story with others, an amazing thing happened. Shame lifted right off of me. For years I had never told anyone of my personal battles with depression. I felt too ashamed of it. In the past I would try or start to get help from professional counselors but then shame would overpower me and I shut down.
As I began to share my story, it got easier and easier. Others in turn would counsel me from the Word of God. I'm sure many people from my church were praying for me. When we tell our stories to others it opens the way for our own healing, and theirs as well. Others also began to open up with their problems or struggles with depression. These talking sessions were not only good for me, but others began to be helped too by talking/admitting their problems to each other. We began to "carry each others burdens." It was hard to be vulnerable at first, but, for some reason I didn't care any more about the shame or stigma I felt. I was more concerned with doing whatever needed to be done so that I could become well. Part of the healing process for me was including others in on my dark secret, being vulnerable and open with my despair. Yet that was one of the very things that opened the door into healing for me. People came alongside me in support. Amazing!
4. Finally, get educated...learn more about anxiety and depression. The good news is you can get help! You don't have to live in despair for the rest of your life. There are people who care about you. And, one day you are going to help others with the same problem.
Learning about depression dispels myth from fact. For example, I thought I was a terrible person since I suffered from depression. That I was terrible. But, the truth is that depression is an illness and can be treated!!! You're not a "weirdo" just because you're suffering. So get educated. Learn all you can about it.
"Anxiety in the heart of a man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad." Proverbs 12:25
May this article/blog be like "a good word" and make your heart glad! There is help available if you or someone you know is suffering from depression. You don't have to suffer alone. God is with you. God cares for you. God wants to comfort you. God wants to help you. Be willing to be vulnerable. See a doctor. See a pastor. Help is waiting for you. I've been there. I've been down that road. And, I say to you today, "Cheer up! There's light ahead for you at the end of the tunnel." I'll say it again: There's light ahead!! Have hope!!

Psalm 7
O Lord my God, in You I put my trust; Save me from all those who persecute me; And deliver me...I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness, And will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High. Psalm 7: 1~17
I put my trust in my God. I have righteousness and integrity. My defense is of God. I am upright in heart. I will praise the Lord according to His righteousness. I will sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.
Scripture shows that God will save me from all who persecute me. God will deliver me. he arises in his anger; the Lord shall judge the peoples. God is righteous God. God tests hearts and minds. God saves the upright in heart. God is a just God. God is angry with the wicked every day.
I need to continue to trust in God. I must sing praises to the name of the Lord Most High. I need to know that He'll save and deliver me from persecutors...that's His promise to me. I have to understand that God tests hearts and minds. I will seek to learn and pass the tests. Finally I must stay away from all forms of evil.
I feel like God is speaking the following to me:
"You can pass your tests with my help. Keep trusting in Me. I'll save You. I'll deliver you. Keep your eyes on Me. I love and enjoy your worship of Me."
Prayer~
My hope and rust is in you dear Lord. you'll deliver and save me from persecutors. Let my mouth sing praises to your name.

God Knows My Problems (Psalms 6)
I am weary with my groaning; All night I make my bed swim; I drench my couch with my tears. The Lord has heard the voice of my weeping. The Lord has heard my supplication; The Lord will receive my prayer.
Psalm 6:1-10
Prayer~
Lord, I praise You. Your name is excellent and most worthy to be praised. I love your presence and I love to spend time with You. Thank you for this time to be together now. Is there anything that is in between us Lord? I am so sorry for my sin. Please forgive me for my sin. My sin of omission (not doing the things I should) and my sin of commission (the things I do wrong). Please speak to me now from Your Word, I pray in Jesus name. Amen.
Scripture says there are times in our lives when we are weak. Our bones are troubled. It's another way of saying we may experience great problems. ("My soul is also greatly troubled".) There are times in our lives when grief is too much to bear. It causes us to cry. And cry. And cry. Until we have no energy left to cry. God understands and cares about our tears!!
Scripture also teaches that God does not rebuke us in anger, nor does he chasten us in hot displeasure. His patience with us is amazing. He is longsuffering, slow to anger and rich in love!!! He promises to heal us. He promises to return and deliver us. He promises to save us. I take comfort in knowing that the LOrd hears the cries of my weeping. He also hears all my requests of Him.
When I have troubles, whatever they may be, I can know that God is aware. He sees everything. If I am at work and having difficulties in a particular area, God sees. God knows!! I don't cry and suffer alone, but God is with me. Whatever problems we may have, God knows. God invites us into relationship with Him. He welcomes our prayers about everything. We can tell him about our problems. We can open our hearts to Him. As we pour out our hearts to God, He holds us in His arms. He whispers into our ears, "you are precious to me, daughter." "You are precious to me, son." We don't have to worry about our troubles, for He promises to save and deliver us. In His time. In His way. We let him carry the load of our problems today and every day.
Prayer~
Lord, I pray that You help us live lives that are pleasing to You. Please help us with our problems. We know You love us, and have not forgotten about us. We love You Jesus. Amen.

God Really Pays Attention to Me (Psalm 5)
Prayer~
Oh Lord, I love Your name! Your name is praiseworthy and worthy of praise. Thank you for this time to be together in Your Word. I love to spend time with You. Lord, is there anything that keeps me from you? Please reveal it to me now. Lord, I am sorry for my sin. Please forgive me. Please speak to me now through your word I pray, Amen.
Give ear to my words, O LORD, Consider my meditation. Give heed to the voice of my cry, My King and my God, For to You I will pray. My voice You shall hear in the morning, O LORD; In the morning I will direct it to You, And I will look up.
Psalm 5:1~3
But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. Lead me, O LORD, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.
Psalm 5:7~8
But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them. Let those also who love Your name Be joyful in You. For You, O LORD, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield.
Psalms 5: 11~12
When I first read this passage in psalms 5, I was impressed to discover that God actually is paying attention to me! Really? Could this be true? The God of the Universe is taking notice of me? I found that to really be amazing, that He is actually attentive to me. He's listening to my words, he considers and thinks about my meditations (or groaning). Also, He defends me. He blesses the righteous and surrounds them with favor. If it's in the Word of God, then, I'm going to choose to believe that it is true. For God is a God who doesn't lie. He's speaking words of truth and words of life to me, even right now. He's speaking words of truth and words of life to you too, dear friend, as you read the Word of God. All truth, and all life, is found in words of Jesus. Our hearts are open to the God of life, love and truth.
Prayer~
Lord, I feel honored that you actually "consider" and think about my meditations!! I am in awe and appreciation that You , Lord of the universe, My God, actually LISTEN to me. Should I not run to You daily and often??? I am also thankful dear Lord, that You are leading me. Make me one who rejoices in You and trusts in You. I want to be joyful in You dear LORD. Thank You for "giving heed" to my cry~You actually pay attention to me, and Lord, I think that is soooo sweet!!! Please help me live a life that is pleasing to You dear Lord. I pray in Jesus' name, Amen.

God is Always Near, Always Close
Lord, You are wonderful and I praise You. Thank you for this time to be together. Time spent with You is my favorite part of the day. I'm sorry Lord for my sin. Please forgive me for my sin and help me! Please speak to me today through Your Word. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. How long, O you sons of men will you turn my glory to shame? How long will you love worthlessness and seek falsehood? But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him. Be angry and do not sin. Meditate within your heart on your bed, and be still. Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the Lord. There are many who say, who will show us any good? Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety. Psalm 4:1~8
This scripture has many interesting things to say about me. It says that I am safe in the Lord. I am set apart for the Lord. I call out to the Lord. I may be angry but I do not sin. I meditate within my heart on my bed. I am still. I offer the sacrifices of righteousness and my trust is in the Lord.
This scripture also has a lot to say about God. First of all, God hears me when I call. he is the God of my righteousness. He relieves me in my distress. he has mercy on me. And, he hears my prayer. He has set me apart for Himself. The Lord lifts up the light of his countenance upon us/me. He puts gladness in my heart.
The truth of scripture affects my attitude and action. I will believe and know that God hears my prayers, when I pray to Him. I will pray to Him about EVERYTHING that concerns me. I will rejoice and be glad that I am set apart for the Lord. Being set apart for Him comforts me. I will enjoy this season of single life in pursuing Him.
Prayer~
Thank you dear Lord for setting me apart for yourself, as your very own. Thank you for letting me dwell in safety dear Lord. Thank you for being my God of righteousness. When I am angry please do not let me sin (especially at work). Dear Lord, Thank you for shining your countenance upon me. I receive all that you have for me. Lord I love you, and I want to live a life that is pleasing to You (please help me). I tell You all my cares, worries and concerns now. Thank you for hearing me and being concerned about my life. I love You Lord.
God Wants to Help Me
Lord Jesus,
I praise You because you are worthy to be praised! Your name is excellent, and I love you. Thank you dear Lord for this time to be together. I love to spend my time with you. Lord I am sorry for my sin. Please show me what is in between You and I. Lord, as I read your word I pray you would speak to my heart through your word. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many are they who rise up against me. Many are they who say of me, "There is no help for him in God". But You, O LORD, are a shield for me. My glory and the One who lifts up my head. I cried to the LORD with my voice. And He heard me from His holy hill. I lay down and slept: I awoke, for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people who have set themselves against me all around. Arise O LORD; Save me, O my God! For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone; You have broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongs to the LORD. Your blessing is upon Your people. Psalm 3:1~8 (all)
I really love this psalm! This scripture says alot about me. It says that I have troubles. Many troubles. Many rise up against me. However, I cry out to the Lord with my voice. It says I lay down, sleep and awake. I am not afraid of 10,000 people against me all around. Finally, God's blessing is on me.
I'm impressed with what this scripture says about God. It says that God wants to help me. He wants to help you with all your problems, big or small. The Lord is my shield. He protects me. He is my glory. He lifts my head. I love that He hears me when I cry to Him. He hears our prayers whenever we pray to Him. Also, He sustains me, and gives me good sleep. Something to remember whenever I'm struggling with insomnia. My Lord arises. My God saves me from all my enemies. My God strikes their cheekbones and their teeth; my God is a powerful, protective God!!
In light of these truths found in scripture, I see that some changes in my attitude and action might need to take place. First of all, I will speak the truth. Yes, I have troubles, but God is my shield, glory and lifter of my head! I will focus on God not my problems. God will demolish my enemies. I will continue to put my faith, hope and trust in the Lord.
My Prayer~(you may want to offer this prayer or a similar prayer using your own words to the Lord)~
Lord God,
I don't have to be afraid of my troubles nor enemies. Lord help me focus on God not my problems. Help me continue to put my faith, hope and trust in you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world. John 16:33

Intimacy with God
Let us begin our time with a word of prayer.
Lord, Your name is exalted. Your name is above all other names. Thank You Lord for this time we have to be together. One day with you dear Lord is way better than a thousand elsewhere. Please show me if there is anything in between us that keeps me from You dear Lord. Please forgive me for my sins. Please open my heart now to Your Word. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
Let us now turn to the Word.
Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son lest he be angry with you...blessed are those who put their trust in Him. Psalms 2:11~12
I am blessed. I am SO happy. My trust is in the LORD, in the Son. My trust is in Jesus Christ. I serve the LORD with fear (that is, reverance). And I rejoice with trembling. I kiss the Son. A kiss is a sign of intimacy and affection. I love the Son of God, Jesus Christ. I have a deep appreciation for the work He did on the cross. I am extremely grateful He died on the cross to pay for my sin. How wonderful He is!!! God is not angry with me. I will rejoice. I will be happy. I kiss the son (I enter in to his chambers. I enter in to His presence daily). I trust in Jesus.
You may want to pray a prayer similar to the one below.
Lord God, Make me a person who "kisses" You, serves You with fear and rejoices with trembling. Help me to trust You with all of my future. Help me remembe that my future is in Your hands. Thank you for caring about all the things that are a concern to me. I give all my problems and worries to you dear Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Lord You Make me Happy!
Let us begin our time with God in a short prayer.
Dear Lord, I praise You because Your Name is Wonderful. Your name is worthy and You are worthy to be praised. Lord, I thank You for this time we have to be together. Can you show me dear Lord if there is any thing in between us, any sin, action or attitude that I need to confess to You dear Lord? I am sorry for that sin Lord and I ask You to cleanse me and to help me. Please speak to me now dear Lord from your Word. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper. Psalm 1:1~3
I am blessed~oh so happy! I do not live by the world's advice, rather, I delight in the law of the LORD. I think about the Lord's law constantly, all day and all night. God says that I am like a tree planted by rivers of water and that I bring forth fruit in season, that my leaves do not wither, and that all I do prospers.
I am going to choose to believe God's Word. I am going to trust that He will make the necessary changes in my life that need to be made. God has a law~the law of the LORD. God wants to help prosper the person who fears the LORD and honors him. God wants to give life to the person who follows Him and obeys his Word.
Let us hear God's invitation to us today! He invites us into a deeper relationship with Him! He says to us, "You are precious, and you are chosen. Come into my presence everyday...Come and you will be satisfied with the love I have to lavish on you." Let our hearts say "yes" to God's invitation.
Dear Precious Lord,
Make me a person who loves Your Word. Help me learn what Gods says, thinks and feels more and more. Help me think about and obey my God. I love you precious Jesus. Thank you for caring about the concerns and problems of my life. Please help me with every one of them. I give You my heart afresh and anew today. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
